At the head of the table the people sit (Human Needs series)

The door and the dining table of a ‘fictional house’ carried out by a video installation that combines both elements.

The video consists of a life-size projection of a door open to the street. Through the opening one can see people passing by on foot. Young children pass with their mothers, the elderly and people on a bike, horse carriages and tourist busses. Everyone passes by; some people peer inside yet no one crosses the threshold of that “door”.

The lavishly laid table, served with exquisite delicacies and the finest wines, remains beyond reach. These are the foods and drinks for the inauguration. For the remainder of the duration of exhibition everything will be left just as it has been. The fine table will remain unattainable for the anonymous people of the video as well as for the public that will visit the exhibition.
